The competent body for out-of-court settlement of consumer disputes is the Czech Bar Association (ČAK). If a dispute arises from a legal services contract between an attorney and a consumer, the consumer has the right to contact the Bar Association.
If the client is acting as a natural person outside the scope of business, the consumer protection provisions of Act No. 634/1992 Coll., on consumer protection, as amended, apply. Upon request, the attorney is obliged to issue a confirmation of services rendered, including the relevant date.
A client who is a consumer and in dispute with an attorney over legal services may request out-of-court settlement of the dispute by contacting the Czech Bar Association.
Details about this procedure and alternative dispute resolution options are available on the Czech Bar Association’s website.
